visual feast(s)
: in case you missed these restos in vegas, here's the final post from my citycenter + beyond pics :
las vegas, nevada | usa | january 2010
: the pub at monte carlo
: nom noms at monte carlo's nye party. enjoyed by party-goers and my iphone cam.

: dessert tray decadence at monte carlo nye party
: jean philippe patisserie. mushroom chicken crèpes were decent but a bit dry. i've had better in quartier latin in the 5th. too bad i waited 20min in line to find that out. ah well great people watching spot in any case :)

: fanciest candy store ever @ jean philippe patisserie

: loving this entry portal @ julian serrano... sort of a modernist torii
: al fresco comes inside at julian serrano
: i wonder if these glass ball thingies are permanent or if they were part of the new year's eve decor. if you find out let me know. they reminded me of champagne bubbles rising in a flute just before the night's toast.

: elegantly effective use of lighting/highlighting at bar masa
: design elements suspended from the ceiling at lemongrass. not so oddly they call to mind... lemongrass fibers
: austerity at cafe vettro
: next trip maybe i'll have the budget to actually dine at these spots. for now at least i was able to take in a visually pleasing feast to share with anyone who may have missed it...
more citycenter: architecture + elvis
: citycenter | las vegas, nevada, usa : some views of the recently opened starchitecture project {studio daniel liebeskind, pelli clarke pelli architects, helmut jahn, rv architecture / rafael vinoly, rockwell group, kohn pederson fox, foster + partners, gensler} which was awarded LEED gold certification. it's worth taking time to explore inside and out during your next visit to sin city... all for some architectural enlightenment and guiltless pleasure.: groovy distorted view from i15 expressway :
: form, color, transparency, reflection : quick view heading up i15

: veer towers. brilliant. thank you helmut jahn :
: entry canopy : i love how its structure makes the plaza feel connected yet open.

: water wall wonderwall :
: admiring a favorite detail :
: waiting area for cirque du soleil's viva elvis show :
apparently a recurring theme is playing with spatial effects of light filters, because i noticed throughout citycenter a whole lotta light changing color goin' on!
: also check out the official site at http://citycenter.com
glass, color, light: ethereal beauty of chihuly
: chihuly gallery at citycenter | las vegas, nevada | usa | january 2010 : : just sharing some images for anyone who hasn't had a chance to experience these amazing pieces first-hand...
: one of the two veer towers, my favorite building of the project, {helmut jahn designed residential highrises} beyond
: the chihuly gallery is suitably sited on a glazed corner, allowing visual interaction with the outdoor space where aria resort meets vdara spa towers and veer towers... all the while the citycenter elevated tram zooms by smoothly overhead.
: blue glass reeds with citycenter place and tram outside
: fountain lights outside constantly change while the waters dance
: note the minimal guardrail surrounding this enormous green blown glass artwork. so many people, both adult and children, kept wanting and trying to touch the glass points... and i kept holding my breath while wanting to smack those people! when we first stepped into the gallery, a man was talking to one of the gallery workers with his american express in clear view, "how much is that piece over there? my son took an accidental swing at it..." errh i wonder what his credit limit was?!
