: in the '90s came bachelor parties + weddings galore. in the '00s we had 1st birthdays, surprise 30ths, 1st communions, even some happy divorce celebrations...

: in the '10s we are seeing a new slew of parties... surprise 40ths!

: this weekend we were fortunate enough to be invited to one slightly-not-so-low-key 40th celebration at chicago's park west. special secret live performance guests: the beat. or as they are known in the good ol' usa, the english beat.

: thanks to the lovely donna who pulled this amazingly surreal event together for her hubby. happy 40th birthday jud!

: this 'mixtape' / 'playlist' part of our gift [delivered on a flash drive packaged in a cassette case for that mixtape effect ;) ] is a conglomeration of tracks inspired by the band playing tonight, and the memories that the beat conjures up... placed amidst a few other more current tracks finding their relevance within the randomness of musical references permeating the scene today.
